Quick story to go with their introduction... I got two guinea pigs the day before Thanksgiving because I've always wanted them and some showed up on Craigslist... I spoke with the breeder, who seemed nice and knowledgeable and got two females from him. After spending way too much on a cage and toys and the works, I got them home and settled in. One of them, a darker colored one with constant bed head, seemed to be growing really fast and I was worried she was either pregnant, or something was very wrong. As the breeder had questioned me about breeding them some day, I figured he'd surely kept them away from their male siblings and father. Worried, I took them both to the vet. The vet pulled the mostly white one out of the cage, the one I thought had nothing wrong and said "Well, this one's pregnant". That's how I found out I had two females...because they were both pregnant. It just happens that Banana's (The dark one) was further along. I got them set up separately like the vet said and have been taking the best care of them I can. I contacted the breeder and was told "Yeah, I just thought I'd breed and sell guinea pigs, I don't really know what I'm doing". Then he offered to take any babies off my hands to which I quickly declined as the vet told me she'd place the babies in responsible homes when they're weaned at 3 1/2 weeks. This morning, Bananas had delivered 3 healthy baby piggies, and one still born. The one that was passed away was rather large, and I imagine the death was caused by a likely difficult delivery. It was very hard to go to work this morning! So, here they are, the best pictures I could get without upsetting momma. In the last picture, she was letting them nurse.
