don't know. It looks like a baby chick though (chicken) with egg hatching goo stuck to its head or something. Those feet don't look ike waterbird feet to me though.
    Good Luck!

After searching google, it looks like it could be a baby moorhen with that red area on its face! Scary is right!

Did you find a nest and take an egg? Or find the chick? Leggs look like a coot, but I think theres are yellow? But, that wind is really creeping me out, is that just the picture, or does it have a 'finger'???

its wings are freaky..it certainly does have a sort of 'finger' branching off each wing.
this is one of the live birds the cat has tried to rear. she has brought no less than 5 birds in this past 3 weeks, all alive, and all placed with her kittens in the nest..i think shes an over broody cat! the mice end up dead, but all birds alive, albeit wet where shes washed them.

  6. that's the strangest thing I've ever seen, and a really weird story too...

It is a coot chick. If you've watched David Attenborough's "Life of Birds" nature documentaries, you may have seen the piece on them. The parents have way more chicks than they can take care of so they peck a few of their chicks to death until they have however many they want. Very brutal! If this one is injured, maybe that is what happened.
