baby its cold outside.....

I put my 2 1/2 week old babies out in the new chicken house with lights... our low temps have only been in the 30's this week.

But for the next few nights its supposed to be in the mid 20's so as a precaution they are back in the living room brooder again. Wow... I didnt realize how much they had grown in a week until I brought them back in !!

I agree- I look at mine and think- are they big enough to go outside yet? They are 4 weeks and look so much bigger than the little puff balls they were just a few weeks ago. I have noticed that they are no longer sleeping under the lamp in the brooder (I was down to a 60 watt bulb, 2 feet away) and are sleeping together in the far corner. I took it out today (they are indoors so don't start freaking out everyone). They seem quite content now to sleep wherever. I figure in a few weeks they will be feathered enough to move out the the coop with a 100 watt light. It's so exciting to see them grow up.
