I know ducks like to swim in a baby pool, but what about chickens? It gets really hot here in the summer and I was wondering if I put a baby pool in the new end of the coop if they will use it.
In my experience, they like it a lot better if there is a easy in-out for them and just 2-3 inches of water. Bricks for steps inside and outside of the kiddie pool work well. A couple different entry/exit points make them less anxious because they can get in and out without a hassle from a bossy hen. My mom likes to use those shallow black rubber feed pans. Her hens stand in them all day long when it's hot out.
Thank you! I think I will try a small hard sided baby pool and will make sure there is an entrance for them to easily get in and out.
