Okay, so I am babysitting two 10 year old boys and a 4 year old girl. What should I do to keep them occupied? Like, entertainment, games, anything! I just want to be the best I can be, but I have no idea where to start! Anyone have any ideas?

Run away! Don't babysit anyone!

(Sorry, that wasn't very helpful. I honestly have no idea what you could do)

Hmm, I'd suggest a game, Sorry is a good one, parchaisi, checkers. The older two may have homework to do, so plan on possiably keeping them on task while keeping the 4 yr old out of thier hair.

http://dltk-kids.com/ has a ton of crafts that are at the preschool level.

Oh there are so many things! Kids love when you bring them things to do, and it doesn't matter what. I will usually go to the dollar store and buy a bunch of coloring books and some crayons. The 4 year old girl will love this. The boys might lose interest quickly, but you can also bring a movie that they may not have (You can call the parents to find out what they have and what they don't, and make sure about the ratings they allow). Kids LOVE new movies, especially if they don't own them. Then let the girl color while the boys watch the movie. (Just make sure to keep an eye on them with the crayons so they don't draw on things they shouldn't)

Games are good too, but it might be difficult to find games that all three of those ages could play. Any little toys you might still have from when you were a kid are great entertainment too. Sometimes I will bring a whole bag of goodies and I call it "Mary Poppin's bag"! I'll let the kids go through it and they can play with whatever they want. Then the next time I come over, I will bring a different set of toys. (Luckily I was a tom boy so I had both girl AND boy toys)

Stickers are another good option. You could bring a blank pad, some crayons, and stickers. Kids can have hours of fun doing that!

The set of kids I still babysit every now and then always expects me to bring something for them to do. Sometimes I will bring a video game, or a movie. They always ask their mom what I will bring the next time! Kids aren't particular, they just like anything new that doesn't belong to them! (Especially if you are willing to get on the ground and play with them too!)

Lock them in the basement with some bread and water....

If all else fails...use duct tape.

That sounds good....

Seriously. My brother has 5 boys that I watch some. I cheat! If Disney made it I have it.

In the summer we stay at the river all day. They have fun in the water an I have girls telling me how cute my group of Nazis are. (all blonds with blue eyes)

My kids are 9, 8 and 4.

They like board games: Trouble, Life, Monopoly, Hullabaloo, Operation, etc. especially if a grown up plays, too. Prepare to referee arguments.

Crafts: making stuff out of clay because we can bake it and make magnets. My oldest likes to make little animals and accessories for them. Anything messy their parents wouldn't normally have time for, like fingerpaints, paper mache, paper crafts involving glue, etc

Cooking with me: making bread or brownies or cupcakes

Card games: War, Go Fish, Gin, Solitaire and Poker

My 4yo is a girl, too and she's very girly. She likes dress up and Barbie and things like that. She loves being included in the same things the big kids do, but it doesn't hold her attention very long and she goes off and does her own thing. She plays very independantly.

Of course mine also love tv, watching movies, Wii, and NintendoDS.

If it's a school night, my kids don't have a lot of free time between homework, chores, taking a bath and their bedtime routine.

Hope that helps! Have fun!

I have and 11 year old and 5 year old twins....they love card games even though the younger ones don't quite understand. Also, if you're pretty good in the kitchen, my kids love baking cookies-cupcakes even more due to the frosting aspect. This takes alot of time especially if you let them do everything...just make sure that they do it right. With the older boys, let them make it more "boysy".

Drama! Have a book around that they all know and they can act it out. Indoor picnics were always good when I was babysitting as well. The kids helped me with the food (usually PB&J's with some chips and some fruit) and we spread out a blanket on the floor and had a picnic, while talking about what wonderful weather it was and all the fun stuff we could do after the picnic.

Only other thing I can suggest is just let the kids lead you for what they like to do. They'll let you know. However, don't let them walk over you either. "But I LIKE to climb on top of the refrigerator!" is not a good argument.
