Not sure if this is the right area to post this, but Codman Community Farms http://www.codmanfarm.org in Lincoln MA will be giving a class on raising backyard chickens this spring.

Backyard Chickens Class at Codman Community Farm, Lincoln, MA

This class covers the basics of keeping a small flock of laying hens or broilers in your back yard. Topics include nutrition, housing, regulations, health and behavior. We will also discuss the various breeds of poultry available and observe some of them here at the farm. You will leave the class with a good sense of what is involved in successfully raising either layer or broiler chickens. For those who wish to attend, there will also be an optional 4th meeting in September where the instructors will demonstrate the butchering and dressing of poultry.

Class members will have the opportunity to participate in a group purchase of chicks from the Murray McMurray Hatchery.

My wife could probably teach this class I have never ever seen anyone do it her way and be so efficient in butchering and dressing a chicken, she makes it look easy and it is done so humanely.

That's really cool. Thanks for posting this...
Most of the other states are more aggie centred than we are, I guess.

That sounds great, thanks for posting. I wish these were available all over.

.... actually, if anyone goes to these types of classes, can you ask if they can be recorded? How cool would it be to add an audio or even video version of this class on www.BackyardChickens.com?

Heck, if anyone ever wants to do something like this outside of a class, let me know!
