Noticed Benelli wasn't acting right this morning and took her to the vet. She went down hill on the way and after an antibiotic shot and some fluids, she was gone. [IMG] They did an autopsy and she had a respitory (sp) infection. Now Mossberg is all by herself and yelling her head off. We moved her to the livingroom to be around us. Sad day...

That is very sad. I'm sorry that you lost your lovely duck.

I know it probably feels really soon but are you thinking of getting a new companion for Mossberg so she isn't too lonely?

I was pondering because she is too little to go out with the Muscovy ducklings, and I dont want her to be lonely but I don't really want to get another one from the feedstore. Besides their next shipment doesn't come until the 20th. Any suggestions? Take into consideration she is a Pekin and is pretty big so mallards, blue swedes, khakis.....are probably too small to be a companion.

where are u located...I have ducklings of three diff ages...I would certainly give you a couple for companionship for the loner...I have had some similar experience with a loner...I bought three ducklings from a BYCer a year or so ago to accompany a singleton gosling...recently I lost all but one from a hatch due to power failure and the eggs getting cold for an extended period...so off I go hunting down a duckling for my duck...they just don't do well alone...I hope things work out for you and let me know if I can help...
