I recently discovered that I have two roosters in my flock, but everyone gets along very well so far and I have seen no evidence of fighting. I did notice today that one of my boys has a small bald spot at the base of his tail. I have not yet seen anyone else plucking at him, and it is not bloody; I did see him poke at the spot this morning, so perhaps he is the culprit?
Is this normal for roosters? Is he molting in preparation for his fancy new tail feathers? The chickens are about 6-7 months old, and the hens have been laying for about four weeks now. Thanks in advance for the advice and input!
