My 1 day old chick had to be moved into the brooder earlier than anticipated. The egg was cracked about 4 days before hatch, so we had to use candle wax to fix it up. She also had a rough hatch, about 24 hours from pip to starting to zip. When she came out, the yolk was still attached and like 1/2 to 3/4 absorbed and it was just dragging behind her. So we had to move her into the brooder after she dried off to make sure she could get food and water. Now I see that she seems to have some…err…. Bald spots? On her back. Not really bald spots but like barely formed feathers. Like they’re there, but they didn’t grow in all the way. It’s been about an hour since we moved her over and since then one of our other chicks has been pecking at her beak occasionally and they sometimes start arguing with each other. The other chicks peck sometimes too, but I’ve only ever seen any of them peck her back once. Should I be worried? Should I put her in chick jail for a while while she develops a little more? Will the other chicks kill her?

Thank you! It’s hard being a chicken parent. I lose so much sleep over my babies. Much love and strength to you and your babies. 🐥🐥 hope everything works out.🙂
