I got one question related to bantam hens. I have a few hens that they are now 9 months old. There 3 of them that they are almost half the size from the others. Are these bantams? Or they grow at a slower pace? Also are bantams a special breed? Or is it genes related?

    Thanx a lot.

Bantams are miniature chickens. Some have large counterparts and some do not. They are not a breed unto themselves. Also, sizes among standard large fowl and bantams can vary. I have a Bantam lavender Cochin who is smaller than most other banty Cochins, for example.

I will take some pictures and upload them later today. The things is that some lay also small eggs.
