bantam vs Standard chicken

I am curious how bantam chicken were bred from standard size chicken. Can it be reversed by making a standard chicken from bantam chicken?

Just selecting for the smallest birds and breeding them down I guess. Robert Blosl on here has his strain of Mohawk RIR bantams that he bred down from Large Fowl. And I would imagine the same could probably eventually be done in reverse, but it would take a long time. If you look at some hatchery type OEG bantams, they are about twice as big as the exhibition strains that are bred to keep the size down.
