My cochin bantams (2 hens, 1 roo) hatched 2 chicks a few months ago. The rooster would go on the roost while the hens were both setting (in the same box of course!). After the chicks hatched he moved into the box with them. It was so cute. The hens and 2 chicks would be in the back of the box (rabbit nest box--very deep) and the rooster would be sitting at the front. I guess he was trying to protect them. Both hens started laying and setting again (in the same box again), so the rooster took over 'baby' duty. I have quite a few bantam roosters that help raise the chicks
They just don't care. My sizzle is raising cochins now. She raised a standard chick last time and at 4 weeks it was bigger than her trying to sit on her back.
LOL.... that is so funny. These three will be 3 weeks old Monday and they are already more than half mama's size. They are such good parents. I also have a photo of both of them sitting on the eggs a couple weeks ago. They are amazing....
I really do not know what kind of Bantams these are... this couple was given to me about 4 months ago, and when she started sitting on two wooden eggs and refusing to get off of them, I gave her some RIR fertilized eggs to work with and they did it... This dear roo would actually sit with her on the eggs off and on.

The color is red pyle, I was thinking he was OEGB, but he has white earlobes, which suggests Dutch. Probably a mix I would think, but he sure is pretty! They could be Dutch though, the hen looks to have white earlobes too.
