Bare spots by ears (4-week-old chicks)

Today I noticed all three of my four-week-old chicks have small bare spots beneath their ears. No signs of blood. I'm sensing that since they all got them at the same time, this could be normal. Has anyone heard of this? Here is a picture:


This is my Dominique. I also have an Olive Egger and a Black French Copper Marans.

That's completely normal. It will develop into their earlobe as they get older.

You are awesome! My gut was telling me is was something along those lines. One less thing for this mama hen to worry about!
