Barnevelder chicks

    Hello everyone, just wondering how well do Barnevelders lay. And does anyone know where to get some.thanks

    There are a few of us breeders around. Are you looking for large fowl or bantams? It helps to know where you are located as well.

    I raise large fowl Barnevelders, and I'd say they are good (average) layers. They are a broody breed, so that takes some of their egg laying away. They do take longer to mature - I have only 1 pullet laying that hatched at Easter.

    I was looking for large breed and I'm in sc. That does seem like a fairly long time to start laying. When u say average layer is that 4/5 eggs a week or 2/3 eggs a week. Thanks
