I know these are bad pics, and I'll try to get better ones tomorrow.
I got 18 fertile eggs from a friend from my firat-time broody mamas, 15 hatched. (Holy cow! Beginner's luck?!)
My friend has know idea what kind of chickens they have, so they are some sort of mix. Most of the eggs were a medium brown color, about 5 were blue/green.
Some of the chicks hatched with cheek muffs already, some look like they're going to have pea combs, all are some shade of brown with most having various black feather patterns over their hackles and backs.

I will add individual pictures when I get them.
Thanks for any input!

(The yellow chicks in the last few pictures below are Cornish Cross. My Awesome first time mamas together raised 15 chicks that they hatched, plus 25 Cornish Cross chicks! 😲😍)

The first picture has one rooster that I can tell, the second pic has both Roos, and the third pic has 3 Roos and 1 pullets. Hopefully I have the same luck when hatching out eggs in an incubator the first time next year lol .

View attachment 2834949What’s going on with this cockerel? His poor eye!
He had part of the shell membrane stuck over his head. I don't know if he had a problem with his eye already, and that's why he didn't get it off completely, or if that caused his eye to be messed up. The membrane was dry and stiff when I found him, and it it was under one wing, so he would have had a hard time getting it off anyway.
It doesn't seem to bother him much! He holds his head slightly turned when he is walking, but he runs around and eats and drinks with the other chicks and I have a hard time telling which one he is unless I can see that eye. No one picks on him either. (so far...🤞.)
Oh, and we call him Squinty! 😊

The eye could be malformed, which can happen. The picture looks like he's eye less.

Heres some individual pictures. Most of them I'm pretty sure which are roos and which are pullets, but a few I'm stumped, especially the ones that appear to have a pea comb.
