Barnyard mix sexing, 8 weeks age. Too soon, or should I take lots of photos???

Yes, they were snug - Thing Four well past snug, but I need more light and my wife's assistance to re-band them tomorrow. We've had so much water from the skies, high winds, and unseasonal cold I've had little opportunity to do more than provide food and water for them inside the barn's grow out box.

Still, they really need those off.
I agree with guesses. They are sexlinks - any barred ones are female.

Just cut them off, rebanding is not that important, just the two barred pullets might need new bands to be able to tell them apart.

Regarding the gender, I think you are right, the first two barred ones being pullets and the other two cockerels, as at the age of two month a pullet would not have such coloured big wattles or combs.

Yes, they are coming off tomorrow and moving to the other leg, right after coffee. If there's light, and no rain, I can do it one handed and won't need my wife. If not, she needs to hold the flashlight.

/edit I have 8 more chicks, not 4 weeks behind them, most with very similar coloration - thus the need to continue to identify them until they are culled out of the project or partitioned out of the breeding run.

It will cut off blood flow, especially on 4. He has such big legs.
You never want to put it off for too long....lol.
They’re lovely birds. Seem to be in great condition otherwise.

Wait, you have more of the same cross?
Pics and I think maybe we can tell.

You have no barred hens, right?
None at all?
Then yes, they’re sexlinks. Daddy is single barred, no barred moms....easy. All girls are barred, all boys are not.
