I have three 9-week-old barnyard mixes. I’m beginning to think they are all cockerels, but not sure because they are mixes and I do t know if the same rules apply.

The first one pictured is a speckled Sussex cross. Father for all is a barnyard mix, grandpa for all of them is a lavender
Americauna. I though it was a pullet until her comb started looking reddish.

The second came from a blue egg with the same dad and grandad. He has tufts. Thinking cockerel because of coloring, but seems to have no wattles.

The third one has same dad and grandad, but welsummer mom. Also leaning strongly cockerel for this one.

Sure. I’ll get some later tomorrow. I thought it was a pullet until I saw her comb reddening up last week and legs seem to be as thick as the black one now. I don’t have any Sussex so I’m not too familiar with their characteristics.
