I was just visiting my neighbors and checking out their new lambs and chickens; they ordered 6 Barred Rocks and the feed store threw in one extra. I think they might have a cockerel, since mine are 7 weeks old, and I have 2 Barred Rocks as well, and none of mine have the comb and red wattles forming this guy has. I was able to grab a few bad pictures on my cell phone.

This one's feather pattern is lighter and not as distinct as the others, has a thick pinkish comb on top and some RED wattles starting to grow in. What do you think? I told them I'd post here and get some other opinions.

They asked me what to do, since they thought a rooster would terrorize the hens. I told them to wait a little longer to be sure, and that they had time to decide. No reasons they can't have a rooster, and the two neighbors on either side (me being one of them) are both raising chickens this year as well. I told them they could try breeding them since they have 7 Barred Rocks.

Roo, the light body and comb give it away.

I didn't want to tell them 100% that I was sure, but I thought so as well. I'll break the news to them tomorrow.

I also have 4 week old BR- mine are all girls. That is a roo for sure! I have one roo in my SLW (that I know of so far) and he has a red comb and getting wattles I can just start to see. Looks very close to this BR!
