    cockerel

Pullets do not show combs and wattles until closer to their time of laying eggs.

I'm also thinking male, but maybe a mixed breed. How old is it, and can you get a profile pic in better lighting?

Definitely a cockerel. Looks just like my old Barred Rock as he was growing.

100% cockerel. A female barred rock would have darker feathers, and definitely not much comb at that age.
