barred rock green??

    My barred rock hen has some green shiney coloring on her black feathers. Is this common? [​IMG]

    Common enough in hatchery quality birds. Yes.

    I have the samething with some black silkies i have from a hatchery.

    Yes, it's common for the hatchery birds. Not sure about SQ, but most of my HQ BR have had shiny green iridescence on the black parts of their feathers.

    I don't know for BR, but in the Black Australorp, that green sheen is desirable for a lot of people. If you are interested in showing or breeding to the Standard Of Perfection, you need to read the SOP and see what it says, but if they are just for your enjoyment, enjoy.
