Okay, so as they grow... I know our barred rock is older than our others. So far everyone has said she was a SHE but I am starting to get nervous now. I still don't see any spurs. My daughter swears she heard someone practicing their crowing! We think this barred rock is about 3 months old. Help?!?
I have seen photos of barred rocks with way bigger combs and waddles. The tail feathers are not well pronounced - I think the only difference is the face. Is there any way we could be wrong? He/she is SOOOOO sweet - but a rooster is not in my plan...
It's a rooster, sorry. See how light his feathers are? Roosters have double the amount of barring as hens, resulting in a lighter look. Hens are much much darker than this. MUCH darker.
