I have a 13 week old Barred Rock roo. I noticed he had a red spot on his wing. I thought at first he hurt himself. I was able to catch him today and the red spot was actually one single redish feather. He is from hachery stock, I got him at the feed store. I'm taking a wild guess that this is not normal and mostly likely it is because he is from a hatchery. Is there any other reasons for the one single red feather? Just wondering. Thanks.
Yes, There is some other breed in his background. As you say hatchery stock, so you can't expect anything else.
We have barred rocks and doms that crossed with rhode island reds and the offspring look like the barreds or dom but have some red feathers inthere stripping.
