The white spot on the top of the head indicates that the bird is barred. In black sex link chicks the presence of a spot means male because only the male chicks will be barred. In a breed such as this where both sexes are barred the presence of the spot is not indicative of gender because both sexes have it.I've often thought that a white spot on the head of a Barred Rock indicated a high likelihood of being male. Haven't raised many of them tho.![]()
