I've had these for one week.

I got them at Orscheln's and the number of chicks they had of various ages was silly. The BR pullet bin looked mostly like cockerels but I found one I thought was a pullet for sure and one that was iffy. I'm new at this, so I was going by what I had researched online.

Well, so far, from those pics, looks like two pullets. I see one has a larger head spot, but still, the color doesn't seem light like a cockerel. In another week, post a new pic of Angela/Adam and we'll better know. Your second pic looks like you have them labeled backwards.

Thanks for pointing that out! They were labeled backwards. I will continue to post pics. Even though I'm new to this, I'm loving chickens.

Pullets!!

I think they're pullets too. Nice big head spots, dark feathers and the gray washed legs. Very adorable. I should have had you along when I picked up mine, six weeks ago. I thought the light coloring was unusually pretty...and of course now realize handsome, in a word, would have been more appropriate. Take lots of pictures, they grow up so quickly.

Do the vent check.

I agree with Speckledhen, the head spots and dark wash on the legs says pullets, but another week or so and you'll know for certain.

I don't think they're labeled backwards... look at the color of the feet... I think abby is a marans not a br.

I was wondering the same thing about the fuzz color being different on the underside. But they were from the same bin and it was labeled Barred Rock pullets. However, that means nothing if someone mixed the chicks in with other breeds.
