We have four of these 'dappled' looking pullets. I thought they were barred rocks, but their legs are dark-skinned on top. Anyone know what they really are?

Barred Rocks. Pullets have dark down the front of their legs, cockerels don't. So you have BR pullets.

Barred Rocks, they're just hatchery birds is why they have such dark/smudgy barring and dark skin on their legs. Nothing to worry about. [IMG]

Thanks! They are very friendly and are always the ones that come and sit on your knee. We love our 'hatchery' birds! I thought they were barred rocks. Now, Rocky the Barred Rock Roo is quite distinctive in his barring. Here he is:

I have one like these "its" name is halo because when he hatched he was soild black with a little yellow halo. Did yours happen to look that way? Halo is 2 months old and I am trying to figure the sex.
