Barred Rocks?

    [​IMG] was told these were barred rock hens, but looking roostery and thought rocks were darker black, any ideas?

    They are cockerels, male BRs are lighter in color than the female, the last one at least with the odd coloring could also be a black sex link cockerel instead of Rock also.

    I agree. I'm thinking they're probably black sex links

    Sex-link is a bird bred to be sexable at hatch. The second bird looks similar to Black Sex-link cockerel, but the first one looks more like a hatchery quality Barred Rock.

    Black sex links are a cross between a barred hen and a non-barred rooster. The hen passes the barring gene to only the male offspring. The chicks can be sexed at hatch because the males will have a white spot on the head.

    The first looks like a male Barred Rock, and the last two look like Black Sex-Link males.

    They're all cockerels, and the last two are a barred mix. The red bird in the last shot is a cockerel, also.
