One of my 6 week old BO's got pooped on (her back.) Um, how do I clean her?
Pretty common occurance, but if you want just wipe it off with a damp cloth.
or just wash it off and dry it good
i've given mine baths in dawn- they love baths- just make sure they don't get chilled
I think I'll try the damp cloth first. Thanks. I just can't imagine the fuss they'd put up with a bath. How warm would the water have to be? Do they actually let you dry them off with a towel? I'm having a hard time picturing this...
Quote:mine enjoy it- i have one chick i had to give baths to 4 times a day to get an infection down on her shoulder, she would ride my shoulder to the bathroom and just melt in the water, then when i was drying her off, she would snooze in my lap- here are a couple links- it also for some reason helps to tame them
these are after the bath-
All great photos, thanks. Maybe I'll give it a try. What temp should the water be?
Quote:Don't make it too hot. Have it at a temp that you would be comfortable taking a bath in. If it's too hot then the feathers might fall out. Just make it comfortable to your touch
Keep it like you would a baby, once you put them in the first time, they just melt...in fact my duccle roo is so tame now, he doesn't mind being picked up, he got into my paints one day... i paint pet portraits, and here were his feet -
Snow with his girls
If you put a shallow pan of water in with the chicks will they hop in and bathe like a song bird does if given the opportunity?
