I have taken in a few rescue battery hens and while some of them have substantial feathers two have much less. It is now coming into winter here in Ireland and i was wondering if i could give it something in its diet to help its feather growth. .....If this is a stupid question please feel free to reply with "ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ........" I wont be offended.
Also I am wondering if there is any signs as to a chickens age.

Aging a mature bird is tricky. My best guess is, if the battery was getting rid of them, chances are they're around the 18month old mark.

High protein diets help regrow feathers. Any protein for humans is pretty much okay for birds, just in smaller amounts. Meat, eggs, beans, legumes, things like that. Some folks give catfood or the like. Once your hens settle in, they'll grow those feathers back pretty quick!
