Battery Hens???

    where in the world would i get battery hens? i am interested in rescuing some of them. thanks! [​IMG]

    Egg producers would have battery hens. You might ask if they'd let you have some spent hens, which means they're finished with them so they're probably headed for the slaughter house.

    Or find one of the slaughter houses and check around the highways nearby. I used to collect chickens that fell off the truck on the way there. They make great pets, and it's fun to watch them clean up, grow feathers, and recover.

    But I think you need to take a hard look at why you want to rescue them, because if you aren't careful you could wind up with more than you could handle, and then you and the chickens would be right back where they started.[​IMG]

    i dont think im going to get them anytime soon...i found 25-30 (FREE!) RIR and PBR hens from someone on craigslist! thanks for the info on that!
