my chicken charlotte broke her leg..vet put her on baytril just in case of any infection....i read that we can no longer ever eat her eggs?????? is that true?????..of course DR not in today.....no one will answer my question.....

Baytril is not licensed for use in animals for food production. I would call your vet when they are in and ask what their recommendation is. Some recommendations are for the life of the bird, some put egg withdrawl at 28 days. See what the vet says and then decide what you are comfortable with. I have personally used enrofloxacin and used the eggs after a withdrawl period, I'm still alive. I don't process and eat birds that have had antibiotics given. This may help:

I have had some of my ducks on antibiotics where I was told to throw her eggs out. But the more I read it is because if you eat the eggs with the antibiotics, you may build up a tolerance to it. Also, some people can have reactions. I was told by my vet that she has to tell people to throw out the eggs.
