BBS Orpingtons

Sorry, I don't have a camera so I can't post pictures but....

I hatched out three BBS eggs and have the following color patterns, can anyone tell me if they will be blue, black, or splash.

1.) One is almost black with yellow on the belly and coming up the neck. Also has dark black striping around the eyes, like eye liner.

2.) One is almost grey with yellow on the belly and coming up the neck.

3.) One is mostly yellow with just a hint of blue mixed in, like a smoky yellow color.

Any help would be appreciated.

Without a photo it will all be a big guess -

1. black or very dark blue

2. probably light blue

3. probably splash but could still end up being a very light blue

Oh, another thing...

There about a week old now and first feathers are starting to come out. Although small they all seem or appear to be white. Does that change your thoughts.

Show us some photos.

I have 2 blues with a white wing tip feather - usually they grow out.

You capture all three in one photo.


The black one is very similar to my black one.

The grey color is right, but mine has more yellow on the belly and neck.

And the light yellow with hints of blue with the cockerel sign matches my yellow'ish one.


Do you still think:

1. black or very dark blue

2. probably light blue

3. probably splash but could still end up being a very light blue

I've been informed that the rooster I have my not be a blue orpington. I'm still searching for answers on this one since when I bought them I purchased blue orpingtons. PM me if you have questions or concerns.
