I went to clean out an extra 1 gallon waterer I have in the chicken run (the kind with the red base and white top) and I put my fingers under the red base to grab it and change it. I felt something touch my finger. I flipped it over and there was a black widow on the underside of it. Luckily it was a male, they're not venemous like the females. But still, not going to do that one again.

Saw a brown recluse yesterday. They make the best crunching noise.

I've got the black widows in my yard too. Haven't seen them by the coop yet, but I'm sure they are near. Yuck!!

As long as there is a place to hide, they can be found. Our chickens ate the one I was going to smash before I could get it. Was next to the top perch.
