In the chicken treats page on BYC it says to only feed your chickens well cooked beans. I am wondering if anyone can tell me why this is? and what about bean sprouts?

Beans and some other foods have anti nutritional factors. Chickens can't digest them and/or they may be somewhat toxic if fed raw. Cooking them makes them digestable and makes the nutrients available for poultry. I think that sprouts are ok.
