Bedding for chicks?

    To help with mess, use shelf lining on the bottom of your brooder...it's grippy on both sides so they can't slip and it can be wiped off. You could put some shredded newspaper over this if you'd like. I'd agree though, newspaper seems to get really messy, really quickly.
    Where are you getting your chicks from? Maybe they would have some advice of what to use for bedding...I do not live in a tropical climate, but I asked some people around my area, and followed their advice.

    Do you have access to mulch material of any sort?
    Leaves, could you collect, dry, and crunch them up yourself?
    Just watched a YouTube guy who raises chickens in a tropical climate. Don't recall who, but I bet searching YouTube could help!

    You have to make sure they're dry leaves... I assume in tropical countries, leaves do not dry so this wouldn't be an option. Green leaves will produce harmful growth and too much humidity in a coop.
