Bedding

I am wondering what people are using for their chicken coops for bedding? I have been using shavings. I am wanting to switch to something else. It's so messy! I was thinking hay or straw. Would love some advice.

We have a sand floor in our coop and it works great! I clean it out a couple times a year and add more sand. I also sprinkle it with D.E every couple of months. The chickens love it.

I use hay (i get mine free lol) i just keep some newspaper underneath it. The girls enjoy it
