    Hello,
I'm new here and we are about to buy our first lot of silkie chicks. One breeder has chicks ranging from a couple of days to two weeks. Another breeder has chicks that are 3-4 weeks old. There is a $15 price difference between the two breeders (the older chicks being cheaper). Basically I am not sure which ones to buy. I am hoping they will become family pets... What would you recommend? Thanks!

Then I would personally get them as young as possible.

I thought so...I'm also worried if I buy them just hatched they will die, they seem so fragile...

Poultry are actually quite strong compared to many other species of birds. If that is a fear you have then you can go for the older birds but they might not bond as well to you.
