Hi everybody! I live in the country outside Dallas TX. We've been inundated by grasshoppers for the last years. But with only a few they made a good dent last year. We Lost a couple to redtail hawks, and believe it or not two tiny poodles out of the back yard! We found one a half mile away, alive and pretty Ok. Anyway, is there a certain breed that's more able to run from hawks or otherwise avoid them? I want to get about 20 to patrol the area. We're very safe here from dogs and cars, but the hawks...

Friends. Have told me bantams are faster, etc. any opinions? Thanks in advance! Dottie Love

I have never lost a large dp hen to a hawk but I have lost smaller leghorn types to owls. What about guineas? They are very alert, fractious and heavy. I would never try bantams. Too easy to fly off with.
