Spring is almost here, I have the itch for chicks. Hatchery dates and quantities are absurd. Suggestions?

Most of the hatcheries that I have looked at drop their minimum chick order in April.

I hope so, I don't want more then I have room for, (not that I don't get carried away, lol) and some ship dates are out as far as may if you get more then one breed, I want my birds to be od enough to handle the weather changes come fall.

I can totally relate. There are a couple breeds that I'm interested in trying out, but I wouldn't want to order more than a few... A 15-minimum chick order is much too high for my backyard. You could always try posting an ad over CraigsList seeing if anyone else in your area (or more) would be interested in splitting an order with you.
