He looks like a red ranger which are mixed breeds there commonly used as meet but are decent layers too. He will get big!

He is a little clumbsy and cant seem to get out of the coop like the hens. Does anyone know if Red Rangers roost or are they too big? My husband wants to breed him to ours RIR's but Im not sure I want to keep him if he is just going to lie around and eat.

I think if you free range him a lot he'll be fine, but you might have to diet him so he doesn't eat too much. But I don't know much about meat chickens.

They should do fine we had 2 red ranger cockerels for more than 6 months they do fine only reason we culled them is because we had to many cockerels and they fought soooo....
