My Toulouse Goose has developed a large lump (goose egg sized, no less!) on her breast, left side. We've been keeping an eye on it, it hasn't changed in the past several months (she's about 10 mo. old). Now it does look like it's getting bigger, and is red, losing feathers on it.

Hoping it's not a tumor on my poor Georgette, as does her mate, Lautrec. Any opinions? What to do? She's never laid eggs.

Iʻm not a vet, but it sounds like a tumor to me. Is there a vet college nearby? Often they provide low-cost or free medical services for interesting cases for there students to work on. This sounds perfect since surgery with a regular vet might run $200 and up.

Nope--turned out to be a big bad abcess. It finally opened up and lots of nasty stuff came out. I've been giving her antibiotics twice a day--syringing it down her throat, she loves that!

It's gone down considerably. However, the spot that's left is very hard. I suspect it's scar tissue, and we may be stuck with it.
