Big's Get Well Won Ton Soup

  1. With all this talk about Swine Flu going around I figured I'd post this...

    Mis en place:

    2 cans chicken stock
    1 stock can water
    1/2 yellow onion, small dice
    1 carrot grated
    1 stalk celery, small dice
    1/4 cup white rice
    2 Tbls. soy sauce

    1 cup tofu, cut in small squares
    1 cup chopped cooked ham or chicken meat
    10-12 chinese pea pods, cut thin on bias
    2 scallions, cut on bias
    1/2 cup water chestnuts, sliced
    10-12 cilantro sprigs, broken up rough
    10-12 frozen won ton (brand of your preference)

    Add all first group of ingredients to medium sauce pan and simmer for 25 minutes on medium heat. Next add second group of ingredients, reduce heat to simmer and let cook 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste broth for seasoning and adjust with S&P and or Soy Sauce. Serve with love in large bowls...
