I have 3 9 week old black ameraucanas crossed with silver barnevelder hens, that I received as an oops with my purebred hatching eggs.

Can anyone tell me which are hens and Roosters? I think I could have 2 roos?

This is the first time I have had ameraucanas. They seem to be very hard to decifer.

Ok, so Silver is sex linked. Since you have some gold based birds, I’m assuming the father (black Ameraucana) was gold based. That means all the boys will be silver, split to gold, and all the girls will be gold. (Unless the father was gold split to silver himself, in which case this will not work.)

I’m not familiar with whether black Ameraucanas are supposed to be gold or silver based. But assuming he is homozygous for gold, then all your silver looking chicks are boys and all your gold chicks (brown ones) are girls.
