Hello, new member to BYC, but not new to the site, visited it often in the last year and a half. Anyway, baby chicks from cackle hatchery 5 weeks ago, one of them we thought was a JG so my son nicknamed him jersey, turns out he's an exchequer leghorn. But "blue" as he has been dubbed, not sure what he is, think he might be a silver spangled [IMG][/IMG]Hamburg

Welcome to Backyard chickens. When he/ she is 6 weeks old you can post photos at "what breed or gender is this." I'm not familiar with that breed. I was thinking along the lines of polish. but, it's just a guess.

Welcome to BYC! The bird shown is definitely not a silver spangled hamburg (though those are lovely birds) -- as suggested above, if you can capture some good, clear photos and post them in the breed/gender forum we can help you get the little one properly identified.

The first pic you posted was of a Polish, not a Leghorn. Can you post a pic of 'Blue' without him being held. And we need to see that comb more clearly.

Birds csn have similar color/pattern, but there are many characteristics that go into breed ID. This bird has a crest and pink legs, an exchequer would have no crest and yellow legs.
