Here are the Black and Blue Orp cockerels I'm holding for KingsCalls and the Barred Rock boys that are for sale in the BST. I had a request for recent pics and here they are. The strangely barred boy that I originally thought was a SLW cross got out today because the gate got unlatched or something then it closed behind him-I saw him running up and down outside the pen, trying to figure out how to get back in. It's a good thing he's such a tame, sweet boy and let me rescue him-he actually seemed relieved to see me, LOL! Boy, in that pic, he looks like a scrawny little thing, but he isn't; must be the angle or something. He crows with one short syllable, LOL.

Then here is my strange, sweet little BR boy (look at the oddly barred feathers on his chest) and then some of the pullets in their own pen, pardon Zane's big head in the way-he was flirting with them, LOL.

Beautiful as always, Cyn. I was going to ask if you have problems with the teenaged boys trying to dominate you, ie. rooster dancing or biting. If so, how do you deal with that?
I ask because Drumstick (5 month old Turken x Silkie over Silkie) bit me for the other day. He was hand raised with two others, but he's has bad, hormonal teenaged boy manners, so I took the two others out and moved them. Ever since Drumstick has been by himself, he's been awfully naughty.

Carri, Zane is a complete lap rooster. He jumps in my lap to take naps or on my shoulder if my lap is occupied with a hen. When my DH bends down and holds out his hands, Zane comes right to him to be picked up, however, lately, if he doesn't want to be picked up, he'll turn and nip our wrist, the bad thing. Other than that, he's a love of a boy! So, yep, he's getting full of himself lately, all those raging hormones. But, he comes when called and knows his name, just like a dog. One of the younger ones does bite me all the time, but he pulls on my pants leg for attention and gets skin with the material. He likes alot of attention, that one!
Beefy, there are a couple who have excellent barring. The one in the fifth pic from the bottom is probably one I'd keep, personality-wise, but there is one other that has slightly finer barring than he does. I'd say that three of them are top notch, then a couple more are really good, then there's the last couple. The odd boy is the worst in his looks as far as his feather patterns, but the sweetest one of the whole bunch.
Carri, I forgot to say, no dancing at me by anyone, though. That would be dealt with, the little upstart!

Does this mean you will be building another small coop and growing out a nice fat big black boy of your own to keep?

I hatched 3 blacks. 1 I know is a pullet. Of the other two which I am sure are cockerals the one with the nicest body so far is the one with the curled toes. I am waiting to see what comes out of the eggs from Gordie and Julie. There were blacks in both sets and splash. I am hoping to end up with a black, a blue and a splash roo. I have managed so far to hatch a black, a blue and a splash pullet from TOH's eggs. I suspect you will be sending me all of your predetermined pullet eggs soon? LOL

One thing I know....I can predetermine nothing in my life, LOL. I sure hope you get all pullets from my eggs! No, I'm not going to be building anymore pens, most likely. Not quite sure what direction my Orpington adventure will take yet.
