I found an auction that had tuxedo buttons (pieds with a pattern basically), but, one of them was BLACK. Are the blacks common?! Has anyone ever seen a black or a black tux button quail?
Of course, now I can't find the stupid auction.

Yes. Four of my eggs from JustHatchin were black. Black beaks, black feet, black fuzzy chicks. They grew up to look like Tibetans and then the breast feathers developed a blue sheen.

I've never seen a tuxedo button quail, though.

You can see blue face chicks on there, they can be pure black, to black with white throats (if they have white throats they are double factors).

The hens mature to look like tibetan coturnix, the males are blue with black/red. Some hens and roos can look so dark they can look black.

lol maybe some day again, having someone like ButtonQuailHaven around for genetic help I may just get back into them again. But this spring/summer atleast I wanna focus on my coturnix colors i have (and am getting), and my Ameraucanas and Wyandottes

So for now my brains going to be overwhelmed as it is with genetics on these three lol!

I'm going to be breeding for DARK coturnix tibetans (british range) that look almost black so im excited about that

Just to tease you all I get to live by button quail heaven. She is great I am so glad to know her. She helps me so much. Maybe she will work on black that would be a cool color. I wonder if they have black on the other side of the pond

I dunno if they do but over on the other side of the pond there ARE some amazing colors!!! I am really interested in the ruby eyed birds over there as well as the funky patterns over there
