Black Copper Maran Sexing

Last sexing question for awhile! 3.5 month old Black Copper Maran. Has not crowed or mated that I know of.

We got 4 Maran chicks originally - 3 pullets, 1 rooster. But we got them all mixed up as babies and one of them died and we aren’t sure who it was. This one looks the most like a roo of the 3 remaining but hoping to verify!

Pullet, and blue, not black.

At this age you'd expect to see male saddle feathers. If you want to be sure, in case the bird in question is slower to mature, you can ruffle through the saddles to look for pointy feathers underneath.

Okay, so now I’m curious… these are two of my Olive Eggers. What are they considered? They look a lot like this blue Cooper Maran.

They almost certainly have Marans heritage of some variety. Likewise Ameraucana somewhere in their heritage to get those beards.

Much like my backyard-bred OEs, who came from a Marans of unknown variety and some Easter Eggers.

They are considered... Olive Eggers.
Olive Eggers are commonly made by crossing a dark egg layer (Maran, Welsummer, etc.) to a blue egg layer (Ameraucana, Cream Legbar, etc.), so it is very possible that they have Maran in them.
