Black Copper Marans but for the ears?

He is about 6 months old in this pic. Is he considered a BCM even with the whitish ears?

He's not a black copper Marans, he's a brown Leghorn, the counterpart to the hen to the right.

Me too! My best layers are brown leghorn/EE mixes--I get huge light green eggs. Then I took those hens and put them under a barred Rock rooster and got different colored layers, all with some barring which I love. puffy cheeks that I also love, good production, some funky green eggs.
