What is the going rate for these chicks? Anyone know? If I price them according to what they have been selling for one eggbid they seem too high to me, but if I price them lower, then people think my stock is no good. What is a fair price for day old chicks? Help! [IMG]

Quote:Hi! I bought these from a man in Kentucky. He had a beautiful flock made up of Jeane, Presley and Davis birds. I bought both birds and really nice, dark eggs from him. Is that what you meant? Here you can see them, yourself. http://www.fancygeese.com/blackcoppermarans.htm

    Hi,

The going rate in Alabama is $12 to $14 for day old Black Coppers. I sold all I could hatch this past summer for $12. Good luck on your sales!

mothergoose1963 - I would think $15- $20 each would be fair. I am on a list for getting 8 week olds and I'm paying $20 a piece for them.

Thanks Gary! My eggs have been going that high. I might as well just sell eggs, then, right? Instead of hassling with shipping chicks and incubating? What do you think? Just hatch what I want for myself to improve my own line and sell the rest as eggs? [IMG]

What you could do, take pictures of the eggs the chicks are from, and then sell the chicks on eggbid. Let the consumers tell you what they feel your birds are worth, then you aren't setting your own price for buyers to argue. If they pay you $60 a bird, then that's on them and they obviously think that your stock is worth it. Auctions are usually the best way to find a value, but then again, it depends who is at the auction and how bad they want what you have to offer.

edit to add a word I missed out on.
