Are all black sex link chicks barred and RIR mixed? I got mine from the pullet bin and she is not feathering hardly at all. A little bit on her wings. Not one tiny tail feather. I have noticed her comb is really growing! My chicks are a little over 3 weeks old. All the others have lots of wing feathers and their tail feathers are getting to where they're standing up. My white leghorn is growing crazy. I'm worried at roo got in the pullet bin.

Hatchery sex links are a Red male over a barred Rock female, yes.

The whole point of sex links is that the sex of the bird is linked to the color/markings. Males have a white spot on their heads, females have solid dark heads. males are barred, females are non-barred.

It's always possible you got something like an Australorp instead. Those are vent sexed, with about 90% accuracy.

Can you post a pic of your chick?

You have a Black Sexlink pullet. Australorps look more like little penguins.

This is what Australorp chicks look like.
Any chance your black sexlink is younger than the others? Are the other chicks keeping her from getting enough food?

    Ok! Those are so adorable!
No, she's eating. None of mine are that aggressive. The white leghorn is a little but I see all of them eating and drinking.
I got them all at the same time. Maybe she's just a slow grower? I'm so glad she's not a he because this one is my animal loving daughter's and we aren't allowed roosters!

Pics do tell the tale, that looks like a little black sex link pullet.

Some birds are just slower to develop than others. As long as she's eating and active, I think you're good to go.
