Hello everyone! I have this pretty little almost 5 month old hen. My grandma got her for us so im not sure what bin she came out of! Im pretty sure she's a BSL pullet, but all the BSLs i see seem to have more red on thier chest and neck. Can someone help me out?

Here she is MUCH younger [IMG]

She does look like a BSL. Mine has about the same amount of copper coloring, although I've seen pics of hens that had much more. Keep in mind that a BSL is basically a mutt so the amount of black/copper can vary quite a lot.

I have 9 BSLs and they range from almost all black to half red and half black. Sometimes they look like my BCM hens but have different colored eyes and clean legs [IMG]
Where did you get her? She does look like a BSL to me. Also what kind of rooster is that in the 3rd photo?
    She looks healthy! [IMG]

Let me explain why i think Black Rock. This rooster (Wesley) was found in the black sex link bin. We got him and a real BSL. He looked just like the other BSL as a chick, then dramatically changed. now, i did some research and found out that it takes a Rhode island red (RIR) and a barred rock (BR) to make a black sex link, and it takes a RIR, BR and maran to make a Black rock. I was thinking that maybe, a maran got mixed in with a RIR/BR and created a black rock. any questions? [IMG]
